LISTEN UP EVERYONE! I’m not playing around this time. It is time for my personal Fingerstyle Guitar Tips & Tricks! Fingerstyle guitar is my personal favorite way of playing guitar. I just love being able to express yourself with all 5 of your fingers throughout the fretboard. So here are some of the biggest tips that helped me learn Fingerstyle guitar as a beginner!

1. Use your right pink as an anchor for your picking hand. I don’t use my pinky to pluck any of the strings. I use it to keep my hand in balance on the guitar. So leave your pinky on the body of the guitar for extra balance.

2. Don’t pluck straight up the strings with your fingers. Pluck it at a 90 degree angle.

3. Try not to look at your plucking hand too much. You should be able to just feel the strings through memory.

4. Focus on the bass notes before focusing on the melody.

5. My most important tip, TAKE CARE OF YOUR NAILS! You don’t want your nails to be too long or too short. Don’t chew them!

5 years ago when I was still in highschool, I actually made a fingerstyle guitar tutorial on my YouTube channel. This was back when I would focus more on tutorials than Guitar Challenges. So yes, it was a long time ago. Its VERY OUTDATED! And it’s kind of cringey for me to watch. But if you want more fingerstyle tips from me, watch this video!
