How I Learned Guitar Online
Hey everyone, it’s David here! If you just clicked on this newsletter for the first time, hit the subscribe button to receive all the steps I took to learn guitar online! And to connect with me personally. It only takes a click of a button!
The Most Important Step
Did you know? 90% of beginner guitarists quit playing in their first year of playing guitar because of how difficult it is. Let’s make sure you’re don’t end up part of that statistic. I started playing guitar on March 18th, 2018. Making that 6 years of playing guitar for myself. And 100% of everything that I used to learn , was from free YouTube videos! I would love to share all the videos that I watched with you!
So the first step for learning any instrument, is to get the instrument in tune. If your guitar is not in tune, it won’t matter how good you play it, it will not sound good. So let’s get yours in tune! This is the video I used to help me tune my guitar for the first time.
My First Few Days
Great! Now you got your guitar in tune, nice! After this, I spent the next couple of days just learning my first songs. And guess what? These songs didn’t have any chords in them! You might be asking, how is that possible? Well, the first songs that I learned on guitar, were only one 1 string! That made it so much easier, because I didn’t have to worry about learning chords yet. So here are 2 videos that used to practice this method.
All I did for the first week or two of me learning guitar, was practice, study, and master every single song in the 2 linked videos above. And I mean… EVERY SONG. If you truly master these 20 songs, you will have developed so much technique with playing with your fingers. So then when you move to chords, it won’t be as much of a shift!
End of Week One
So that is it for week one! Since I’m going to try to make this a weekly newsletter, I’ll update each week with what I practiced next! Just spend this week practicing each song, to the point where you can play them each very comfortably. Not skipping over them once you played it good just once. You should be able to play through each song without any problem after the first couple weeks of your guitar playing journey. Also, I highly doubt that any beginner will be able to master these 20 songs in just one week. So take as much time as you need! It doesn’t matter how long you take to master them, just mastering them is all that matters!
